UPDATE 01/17/2010 WWOOF OPPORTUNITIES AVAILABLE FOR 2010
The Chickens are Laying!!!
We are pumpin’ out lots of farm fresh eggs now (for you Lacto-Ovos). All the dairy girls will be birthing in early spring, and you must submit your request early if you would like to be here for the “kid rearing”. There will milk flowing a plenty!! Raw goat milk, Raw goat milk cheese, and Raw goat milk yogurt!!
As of December 2009 the Organic Freedom Farm is two locations, and practices two distinct different types of farming. The original farm is a 10 acre “dry-farmed” Perma-Culture located in the heart of the Petrified Forest overlooking the Awesome Painted Desert. There is much work to do on the original farm and we are VERY primitive, off-the-beaten path. Dry farming is practiced and we have narrowed down a few crops we can successfully grow with little and no water.
Mormon Tea is our “cash-crop” at the original farm, and we boast the finest quality Mormon Tea available. The work clearing and caring for the tea is ongoing, and we are selling it faster than we can care for it. We are also putting in Jerusalem Artichokes, as we have found them to be a viable dry farm crop here.
There is an old school bus on the original property, which is utilized as a “bunk house” with two chest beds and enough room for two adults. We also have an old “Streamline type” travel trailor, which is in the proccess of being converted into the community kitchen as we add on a rammed earth/cob community room addition.
There is minimul solar available on the original property, no running water as of yet…We haul it in!
The second location is a 42 acre Certified Organic farm nestled among the Shaggy Bark Junipers at the base of the Arizona White Mountains. The view of the valley from the house is breathtaking! The house is a spacious three bedrooms, and there is plenty of room for camping as well. We do have a well and full solar.
This will be our first season at the White Mountain location, and we will be irrigating crops which have been more of a challenge for us at the Painted Desert Farm.
Although we are seeking a WWOOF crew for 2010, We do adhere to basic communal living ideals. If you are seeking a possible long-term spiritual-vegeterain home check us out. For more information, please visit our website

New Year, New Freedom Farm!
Here we are, 2010! I’m giving Wordpress one more chance! I’m no computer genious, that’s for sure…I’m a farmer! Let’s hope this time the world of blogs is good to us and does not cause me any headaches.
Many changes are on the horizon for us here with the addition of the second farm and choosing to take part in WWOOF this year.
Frank and I are looking forward to an awesome season and spreadin’ the love with lots of new friends!
Blessings,
Cherri
